We have nine sites across the city of York, see the homepage for our practice boundary/map. You can call 01904 404100 to speak with our Patient Central team who will direct your call appropriately.

Our phone lines are open 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. See our specific site pages for opening times of the surgeries.

From Monday 5th August 2024 we will be closing all our site reception desks over lunchtimes for 30 minutes between 12:15-12:45pm. Patients will still be able to call our Patient Central team during this time on 01904 404100 - see our News page for more information.

There may also be short notice changes to the opening times of some of the smaller site receptions due to staff illness, but we will always ensure our patients have access to a reception team nearby.

There are some pre-booked evening and weekend clinics based at Priory Medical Centre in Acomb and Heworth Green Surgery.

Bronchiolitis is an infection of the small airways of the lungs known as bronchioles. It usually affects babies and is often caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Respiratory syncytial virus, known as RSV, is the most common cause of bronchiolitis. Almost all children will have had an infection caused by RSV by the time they are two years old. It is most common in the winter months. Usually it only causes mild ‘cold-like’ symptoms. Some children, especially very young ones, can have more severe symptoms and may need treatment in hospital. Sometimes other viruses can cause bronchiolitis. Symptoms of Bronchiolitis ➡️ Runny nose ➡️ Coughing ➡️ Fever ➡️ Wheezing ➡️ Difficulty breathing ➡️ Difficulty feeding Reassuringly most children get better within about two weeks but the cough can persist for up to 6 weeks. Yesterday was #worldpilesday Many people feel embarrassed when they come to see us with symptoms of piles (haemorrhoids) but they are so so common and we can definitely help reassure you and manage the symptoms. We know it can be alarming to see bright red blood on the toilet paper. You can get helpful creams and suppositories to soothe pain/itching from your local pharmacy. Constipation is often an underlying cause of piles, so you may also benefit from taking some laxatives or increasing the fibre/fluids in your diet. Common symptoms: ➡️ Itching ➡️ Bright red bleeding on paper/in pan ➡️ Pain on opening bowels ➡️ Passing mucus If you are worried about your symptoms - do get in touch with the surgery. Women are advised to start folic acid (400mcg which is available from supermarkets and pharmacys) when thinking about conceiving and until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Some women are recommended to take a higher dose (5mg) which needs to be prescribed. ➡️ you have previously had a pregnancy affected by a neural tube defect you or the baby's biological father have a neural tube defect ➡️ you or the baby's biological father have a family history of neural tube defects ➡️ you have diabetes ➡️ you have a BMI > 30 ➡️ you have sickle cell disease ➡️ you're taking certain epilepsy medicines ➡️ you're taking antiretroviral medicines for HIV It is also recommended that pregnant women also take 10mcg of vitamin D each day. https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/vitamins-supplements-and-nutrition/
