Patients with a diagnosis of stroke will have an annual check of their blood pressure to ensure it is in a healthy range. They will also have a medication review to ensure they are on the correct medication and that all the necessary annual blood tests are up to date

The Internet at Heworth Green remains down so we have closed the site as unable to access patient records. Please use Tang Hall Lane, Park View or Victoria Way surgeries. Patients with booked appointments at Heworth will be contacted ASAP. This remains an issue with City Fibre and a fix is out of our control, sadly. We will update this post as we hear more.

Update 6.35pm - we still have no internet at Heworth Green, we understand it remains an issue with the fibreoptic internet in the local area. The engineers are working on a fix and we hope to be working normally in the morning. It the site needs to close we will update patients first thing in the morning. Update 4.20pm - Heworth Green will close at 4.30pm The internet at Heworth Green surgery and surrounding area is down. It is related to City Fibre and we are working with our internet/computer providers to provide a fix. We have moved clinicians to other sites but Heworth Green remains open (but with limited capabilities). If you need a blood form or help filling in a request form, please use Victoria Way or Tang Hall Lane surgeries.

More patients are using GLP-1 medications such as WeGovy and Mounjaro as part of their type 2 diabetes care or to support weight loss in obesity. We are aware that some of our patients are seeking GLP-1 medications privately, if you are unsure if your private provider has informed us that you are taking the medication - please let us know. It is important we have an up to date record of medication so we can ensure safe prescribing of your other medicines. This is particularly important for women taking oral contraception or oral HRT medications. See our website for more information ⤵️ https://www.priorymedical.com/news/glp-1-medications/ The practice are getting a lot of requests to prescribe Semaglutide (Wegovy), Liraglutide (Saxenda) or Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight loss purposes. While NICE have approved the use of GLP-1 medications for obesity via the NHS recently, this is not available to us in general practice to prescribe. If you have a raised BMI and would like to discuss other options to support you with weight loss do get in touch to arrange a routine appointment. Referral to the specialist tier 3 obesity clinic has specific criteria but locally you can also seek help with obesity and weight loss via the council Health Trainers or Healthwise.
