Did you know that women aged 16-64yrs can access antibiotics for a UTI direct from a community pharmacy. Women with typical symptoms of a bladder infection eg. burning, passing urine more often or smelly urine can head straight to their pharmacy without needing to speak to a GP. Cherry Street Update
Update regarding our Cherry Street site
We posted recently about a temporary closure:
“Due to front of house staff shortages we are temporarily suspending services at Cherry Street over the winter. This allows us to consolidate our staff and ensure we can continue to provide safe care to all of our patients.
As before, our patients registered at Cherry Street are welcome to use any of our other surgery sites where needed - many of our current Cherry Street patients attend Fulford Surgery, Lavender Grove or Priory Medical Centre.”
Here are some FAQs relating to the changes:
Why is Cherry Street temporarily closed?
Cherry Street is our smallest surgery and faced the greatest pressure with reception staffing often leading to us having to shut the site at short notice. We have increasing numbers of allied health professionals offering our patients high level care but it is important our GP team are also present on site to support them with providing safe patient care.
The practice is currently engaging in a consultation process, to ensure there are no gaps in clinical care for our Cherry Street patients.
All our patients have access to the full set of services at PMG.
There is no reduction in clinical staff, all staff have been re-deployed to Lavender Grove and other sites at PMG. You can continue to access all services across the sites.
How do I access a GP appointment?
Same as before. All our patients can access an appointment either: using theprioryCARE form, calling 01904 404100 or attending one of our surgery sites to submit a care request via our reception team.
How do I access a Nurse Appointment?
Same as before. All our patients can access an appointment either by: using the prioryCARE form, calling 01904 404100 or attending one of our surgery sites to submit a care request via our reception team.
Can I still get my routine vaccinations?
All vaccination services continue to be available at all our other 8 Sites.
I usually drop in my prescription request to Cherry Street, what do I do now?
We would strongly encourage (whenever possible) to use the NHS App or submit an online request using the prioryCARE form. These help our teams turn around your request in the most robust, safe and timely manner. However, all patients are able to drop in to any of our 8 Sites with a written request. See more information on our Prescriptions Page.
How do I collect a blood form?
A patient can attend any of our other 8 surgeries to collect a blood form, whilst Cherry Street is temporarily closed.
Can I still get a home visit?
Yes, our clinical teams will continue to offer home visits to housebound patients in the Clementhorpe area. Home visits can be requested by calling 01904 404100.
Continuity of Care?
Whilst Cherry Street is temporarily closed, all our patients have been allocated a named Site, with closest proximity to your home address. This new team will be responsible for supporting your health care and continuity. For most of our Cherry Street patients, care will be moved to Lavender Grove, where the clinical team previously based at Cherry Street now reside.
Is this reducing the number of appointments?
There will be no reduction in the total number of appointments, just a change in location. The closest alternative sites at PMG are all 1.4 miles from Cherry Street.
I live close to Cherry Street, can I still register with the practice?
Yes, all patients within our practice boundary are welcome to register with Priory Medical Group see the map on our homepage.
